The Princess of Wales To Host Fifth Carol Service at Westminster Abbey to Celebrate Power of Love and Connection within Communities
This December, the ‘Together At Christmas’ Carol Service at Westminster Abbey returns for the fifth year.
Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales, supported by The Royal Foundation, will host the service at Westminster Abbey on Friday 5th December, bringing people together to celebrate love in all its forms. Whether it’s love within families, through friendships, across communities or even through powerful moments of connection with strangers, the evening will highlight the transformative power of investing in one another with compassion, presence and joy.
As the Christmas season approaches, Her Royal Highness wanted to recognise and thank the many people around the country who are acting with love in their communities, contributing to a more cohesive and connected society. A total of 1,600 people will fill Westminster Abbey, with every individual having dedicated or volunteered their time to be present with others, fronted initiatives that bring people in their community together, or shown kindness and empathy to those around them.
‘Together At Christmas’ will air as part of a special broadcast on ITV1 and ITVX this Christmas Eve, with a repeat showing on the morning of Christmas Day. The service will see the world-renowned Westminster Abbey choir sing some of the nation’s most beloved carols, alongside musical performances and readings by guests including Hannah Waddingham, Dan Smith, Kate Winslet and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
Alongside the Westminster Abbey Carol Service, 15 ‘Together at Christmas’ Community Carol Services will be taking place across the UK, hosted by Lord-Lieutenants, and supported by The Royal Foundation.
As with the Westminster Abbey service, each will combine traditional and modern elements to offer a meaningful and inclusive celebration for people of all faiths and none. The services will be held across the UK, including Armagh in Northern Ireland to Lanarkshire and the Isle of Wight.
Services will also take place in a variety of venues including the Coronation Street Visitor Centre at ITV Studios in Manchester, where guests will have a chance to walk along the famous cobbled street, as well as an Arts Centre in Newbury and a Community Farm in Gwent.
‘Together at Christmas’ has been developed and delivered in partnership with Westminster Abbey, as a co-production between The Royal Foundation and BBC Studios Events Productions.
