Communities across the UK celebrate the festive season as part of the ‘Together At Christmas’ carol services

29/11/2025

Across December, 15 communities across the UK are celebrating the start of the festive season with a series of ‘Together at Christmas’ Community Carol Services. The events, supported by The Royal Foundation, are part of an annual initiative spearheaded by Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales to recognise and thank the many people around the country who act with love in their communities, contributing to a more cohesive and connected society.

Inspired by The Princess of Wales’ Westminster Abbey service, the Community Carol Services span the breadth of the UK. With nearly 6,000 guests participating, each service will showcase the diversity of communities across the UK. They will be tailored to each region and reflect the distinct voices within the communities by combining traditional and modern elements to offer a meaningful and inclusive celebration for people of all faiths and none.

Services will take place in a range of venues, with one of the first events taking place at the Coronation Street Visitor Centre at ITV Studios in Manchester. Over 100 members of the community – along with Coronation Street cast and crew – will enjoy carols and readings before being led by the Shree Muktajeevan Swamibapa Pipe Band down the famous cobbles to The Rovers Return. They will finish the service with a performance of We Wish You A Merry Christmas, with support from local trumpeters from the Wing Band.

Alongside The Princess of Wales’ fifth ‘Together at Christmas’ Carol Service at Westminster Abbey, these regional services are a special Christmas thank you to the inspiring individuals across the country.

Speaking about the services, Amanda Berry CBE, CEO, The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, commented: “Our Royal Foundation Community Carol Services embody the true spirit of the festive season. This December marks the fourth year that The Royal Foundation has had the privilege of supporting these special community gatherings, shining a light on truly remarkable people right across the UK. From small towns to major cities, these wonderful and uplifting occasions bring people together to honour those who have made a lasting difference in their communities throughout the year.”

This year, the services are taking place in: Armagh, Dumfries, Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire & Ayrshire, Greater Manchester, Worcestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Berkshire, Suffolk, Wiltshire, East Riding, Isle of Wight, Gwent and Dyfed.

The Community Carol Services are proudly supported by Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation which is providing vouchers for refreshments, and Hobbycraft, which is kindly gifting craft sets to children attending the services, as well as Christmas decorations.

The Westminster Abbey service will air as part of a special programme on ITV1 and ITVX this Christmas Eve.
