Today, The Royal Foundation’s Homewards programme announced the launch of the Homelessness Data Lab.
The Data Lab is a new national collaboration designed to improve how data and technology are used to prevent homelessness earlier and more effectively.
Delivered in partnership with LandAid and Salesforce, the Data Lab brings together organisations from across business, government and the homelessness sector to explore how data can be used responsibly and ethically to identify risk sooner and enable earlier intervention.
Too often, systems respond only once people are already in crisis. The Homelessness Data Lab, at its core, exists to help change that. Through its work, Homewards has identified that many people show clear warning signs long before they lose their home. This means with the right insight and collaboration in place, homelessness can be predicted and therefore prevented – before people reach crisis point.
Working across Homewards’ six UK locations, partners will develop and test practical, time-bound projects that demonstrate what is possible – from improving how data is shared and analysed locally, to identifying patterns of vulnerability and supporting more timely, coordinated responses.
The launch of the Homelessness Data Lab is being marked through a partnership with London Tech Week, where homelessness will feature on the agenda for the first time. For more information on the Data Lab visit: https://homewards.org.uk/about-us/our-initiatives/homelessness-data-lab/
