THE DUKE AND DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE INVITE STUDENTS & TEACHERS TO JOIN GENERATION EARTHSHOT

13/10/2021

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew in London today with local school children to take part in a Generation Earthshot event to help generate big, bold ideas to repair the planet and to help spark a lasting enthusiasm for the natural world.

Their Royal Highnesses joined Mayor of London Sadiq Khan; explorer, naturalist and presenter Steve Backshall MBE; Olympian Helen Glover and local students from The Heathlands School in Hounslow to take part in a series of fun, engaging and thought-provoking activities developed as part of Generation Earthshot, an educational initiative inspired by The Earthshot Prize.

Generation Earthshot invites students aged 10 + and their teachers around the world to join in with the mission of The Earthshot Prize: to discover the best solutions to help repair our planet. It aims to unlock the potential of the next generation of inventors, innovators and leaders, and inspire in them the enthusiasm to develop new solutions to the greatest environmental challenges.

The Duke and Duchess invited teachers globally to involve their classrooms in efforts to repair the planet by using a free Generation Earthshot teacher toolkit and sharing students’ best environmental ideas.

Teachers can download free classroom resources that will inspire big ideas to tackle the five ‘Earthshot’ goals. They include learning about the ‘Earthshot’ challenges and then using a variety of engaging techniques to generate and develop their ideas. Ideas can be submitted to Generation Earthshot.
